Devonshire Photographic’s new second shooter

Since the beginning of the year, Carrie from Devonshire Photographic  and I have been planning to work together. Carrie is a fantastic photographer, specialising in Weddings, and when she asked if I can help her out, the opportunity was too good to miss. Carrie shoots approx. 40 weddings a year, some of which are big and require an assistant to help arrange people for groups, and to get some more candid style shots. That’s where I come in.

I helped Carrie on our first wedding together on Good Friday, at the stunning Elvetham Hotel. I met with the groom at home before heading … Read on…

New site design and Facebook Timeline

Hello? Remember me?

It’s been a long, long time since I was active on here. I’ve been spending some quality time with my gorgeous baby girl, wife, finding a new job, and designing a new site.

One thing that really annoyed me about the old design was its lack of functionality on iPad/iPod and other swipe devices. So, after a lot of research, I came across a WordPress theme from Themify called PhotoTouch. This new design is the end result. All images in galleries are swipe enabled, so you can flip between images using your finger to swipe. Hope … Read on…

Mark and Jose – Civil Partnership – High Wycombe and Crazy Bear

On Saturday, I had the absolute honour of shooting Mark and José’s civil partnership at Wycombe Registry Office, and the reception at Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield.

It was crazily warm for a February, with temperatures peaking at 15 degrees, which was a nice surprise! Can you believe that we were standing next to an outdoor pool in February – Nuts!!

José contacted me only 5  days before their big day, so we didn’t have a chance to meet and discuss their shots. But José did a great job as ‘artistic designer’.

Here’s my favourites from the day:… Read on…

Tempest Rally Photos – 2011

For the past couple of years I have been venturing into the woods to watch and shoot the Tempest Rally. This year was no different. I charged my batteries, packed my bag, and off I went.

I was armed with my two Nikon bodies (D300 and D700), my Nikon 24-70mm and 70-200mm, my SB900 flash, and a ton of batteries and cards. Each body combined with the 70-200mm produce quality results. However, most of the close-up action was taken using the 24-70mm lens.

I’m no pro when it comes to motorsport (or any sport for that matter), but … Read on…

My beautiful daughter – Eleanor Molly

Well, following on from my last post, we welcomed the safe arrival of Eleanor Molly on Thursday 13th October, at 3:30 in the morning, weighing 6lb 14oz.

Ironically I haven’t taken that many photos of her yet, but I love the ones I’ve got so far. Here’s some of our favourites.… Read on…

Maternity shoot, with my own wonderful wife…

For anyone that didn’t know, my wife Gemma is pregnant. As I write this, she is exactly 39 weeks gone, with her due date on 16th October.

We’ve been saying for ages that we need to do a maternity shoot, but with a house to decorate, and other things taking priority, we didn’t get round to it until yesterday. We’re so pleased that we did get round to it, and we’re chuffed with the results.… Read on…

Nelta and Anthony’s Wedding – Farnham Common

I bet when this couple booked their Wedding for the 1st October, they weren’t expecting it to be 29 degrees and bright sunshine.

I knew with the autumnal sun it’d be photographically challenging, and with the shadowed side of the church not really usable, I shot with full blazing sun in the couples, and the groups faces.

I really enjoyed this day and can”t wait to start properly promoting myself as a wedding photographer. I really need to start getting on more wedding sites, and get myself out there. Anyway, baby due in a week, might have to put some … Read on…

Louise and Dean’s Wedding – Bracknell/Ascot

Hello, I’m James, and I can now call myself a Wedding Photographer.

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of shooting Louise and Dean’s Wedding. They contacted me after a close friend recommended me after renting them some suits (cheers Brad), and asked if I could shoot their Wedding. I happily obliged.

After spending a morning setting up a photo booth style mini-studio at Englemere, which was the wonderful reception venue. I headed to Louise’s some some quick shots before the church. After helping out with some slight adjustments for the chaps in the party, and getting some shots of Louise … Read on…
